Natasha Barlow

Biologist & Birder
Natasha Barlow - Biologist & Birder

Natasha is a biologist and birder who grew up near Point Pelee National Park, Ontario. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she began fostering her appreciation for our feathered friends, pursuing field biologist positions working with Yellow-breasted Chats in British Columbia, Black and Common Terns in Ontario, and Swainson's Warblers in Jamaica. After graduation, she joined Birds Canada's Forest Birds at Risk program, where she conducted visual and auditory bird surveys near Long Point, Ontario, and fell in love with the area! Her graduate research was completed in northeastern Wyoming, working with sagebrush and grassland species, including Greater Sage-Grouse, Brewer's Sparrow, Loggerhead Shrike, Spotted Towhee, Western Meadowlark, and many others. Now, she leads Birds Canada's Aerial Insectivore Program in Ontario, and supports research and outreach on Eastern Whip-poor-will, Chimney Swift, and Bank Swallow.

Natasha is passionate about sharing the natural world with anyone and everyone, and believes that birds can create a spark for conversations about conservation. She is thankful that she can travel and learn about avifauna across the world, while still finding time to continue birding and appreciating both her old stomping grounds near Point Pelee National Park, and her current work stomping grounds near Long Point - two major birding hotspots!
