Walker Giesbrecht

Bird Guide & Educator
Walker Giesbrecht - Bird Guide & Educator
Walker is an avid birder from Manitoba with a deep passion for wildlife, conservation, and the great outdoors. His love of birding started at a young age, spending countless hours watching the wonders of Pileated Woodpeckers, fledgling Great Horned Owls, and Belted Kingfishers right from his backyard. This childhood curiosity grew into a lifelong dedication as he began joining bird counts, volunteering as a bird bander, helping run birding retreats, and getting involved in conservation work across the province.

Walker completed an Environmental Studies Co-op degree where he has had the opportunity to engage in field work with organizations such as Ducks Unlimited Canada and A Rocha Manitoba. He is now pursuing an education degree to pair his love of teaching with his passion for the natural world, and hopes to help inspire young learners to care and protect the environment.

Walker is always excited to share his enthusiasm for birds and natural landscapes with others, no matter their experience level. When he’s not birding, he can be found canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, or camping throughout Manitoba and beyond.
