Jessica Pollock - Ornithologist and Bird Guide

Jessica was born and raised along the British Columbia coast. Her passion for birds was sparked in 2000 when she saw a pair of breeding red-throated loons on a small lake in remote BC and watched them courting and calling in awe. Since that day, she focused her career on the ecology and conservation of birds. After completing her B.Sc. in Canada, she migrated south and completed her M.Sc. degree in the US, where she now resides with her husband and kids in the mountains of Idaho. Her dual citizenship conveniently allows her to work and play in both countries. Her professional career has varied across western North America from the boreal forests of Canada down to the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. Much of her work has focused on threatened/endangered/at risk species including the southwestern willow flycatcher, western yellow-billed cuckoo, lesser prairie-chicken, burrowing owl, long-billed curlew, ferruginous hawk, golden eagle, and greater sage-grouse. Jessica has participated in scientific banding of birds for research purposes is a certified trainer level with the North American Banding Council for hummingbirds, songbirds, and raptors. In the winter you will find her at the hockey rink!
