Sören grew up in Luxembourg, a small country in the heart of Europe. Before becoming a birder, he ventured into marine biology and cetaceans. Gaining valuable research and guiding experience at a prominent whale research station in eastern Canada, Sören quickly realized that being a scientist is only half the fun, and sharing his expertise with people is the most rewarding.
After graduating from University Sören started working full-time for Luxembourg's largest conservation organisation. Here, he worked alongside Luxembourg’s most prominent ornithologists, who ignited his passion for birds. His job included banding migratory birds, bird surveys across all habitats, and managing the organisation's urban bird project. Along with an international team, he has also helped GPS tag and band threatened species like Red Kites and Black Storks.
Apart from bird watching and surveying, Sören is a passionate bird and wildlife photographer, spending hours lying in the wet sand or leaning against a tree to get the perfect shot. This relatively new passion has quickly taken over all of his free time. He has since become an established and published photographer who loves sharing his knowledge through little tips and tricks with clients to help them capture their best bird photos. Birding trips in Costa Rica, western Canada and across much of Europe have further shaped his birding and photography enthusiasm.
Sören currently lives on the island of lutruwita / Tasmania. The small island in southern Australia is home to unique and diverse biodiversity and landscapes and is the perfect place for bird and photography lovers.
