A lifelong Costa Rican naturalist, Jose Pablo developed his passion for exploring the natural world at a young age when he first observed a male Resplendent Quetzal in his grandparents’ small reserve in the cloud forest of the Tilarán Mountain Range. Since then, there’s nothing Jose Pablo enjoys more than being surrounded by nature and sharing exciting birds and wildlife with others.
He studied natural resources management at UNED Costa Rica and is an ICT-certified trilingual naturalist guide. In addition to leading natural history and birding tours in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and Patagonia, he has worked on various research and conservation projects involving resident and migratory birds in Costa Rica. He is currently studying Bird-Plant Interactions and shares his data at www.avesyplantas.com, and is also involved in habitat improvement and environmental education at key stopover sites for migratory birds, such as the Cerulean Warbler, through the Corredor Azul project in Costa Rica.
