Henry Coleman

Guide Guide & Conservationist
Henry Coleman - Guide Guide & Conservationist

Henry was introduced to birdwatching at age 5, via an RSPB visit to his UK primary school, and never looked back. When he was 7, his family relocated to Sydney, Australia, and he fell in love with a whole new world of ecology.

His passion for birds and nature quickly developed into a concern for conservation, and an attempt to marry that with social justice led to a career focused on supporting biodiverse local food economies. For over ten years, he has been analysing, writing and speaking on these issues – at home in Australia, as well as in Ladakh, India, where he lived for a year and a half.

With birdwatching an abiding passion, he has birded extensively in Australia, India and elsewhere. He started guiding locally as a way to share his passion and introduce friends to the wonderful world of avian diversity. He has a growing interest in understanding avian intelligence and evolution, particularly among Australia's ancient songbird families. He also paints landscapes, with a focus on depicting the unique ecological assemblages of beautiful places.
