Lindsey has loved birds and bird watching from a young age. Growing up near the beaches on the South Coast of New South Wales and in the beautiful World Heritage Blue Mountains inspired her to study the biological sciences at university, and she embarked on a career in conservation management and environmental education. Her work has now included two decades of tour guiding in Australia and New Zealand and presenting children's science television for network 7 in Sydney.
Lindsey became a Trans-Tasman biologist and has worked in ecology and conservation management in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand – her second home. A major career focus so far, both in her academic research and applied conservation, has been kiwi. Lindsey has been working with kiwi species since 2008 and can’t get enough of these quirky ratites.
Birding highlights to date have been; Green parrot on Norfolk Island, Takahe on Tiritiri Matangi, deafening tīeke/Saddleback on Mokoia Island, Kokako in Kaharoa, Blue Duck/Whio on the Whirinaki, Southern Cassowary at Cape Tribulation, wild Budgies in the Australian Red Centre, and Red-Necked Avocets en masse in the Hunter.
