Will originates from the Scottish Highlands and was raised on a farm in Caithness, a landscape
shaped by wide skies, rugged coastlines, and the seasonal movement of migratory birds. Growing up
on one of Europe’s migratory flyways, he developed an early fascination with the natural world,
spending countless hours watching spring and autumn passage from the fields around his home.
After receiving Collins Birds of Britain and Europe as a childhood gift, he quickly became absorbed in
bird identification and persuaded his parents to buy him his first pair of binoculars—cementing a
lifelong passion for birding.
Before moving into ecology, Will spent 28 years working globally in offshore survey, a career that took
him across the world’s oceans and exposed him to remote wildlife-rich environments. Once his
children had grown up and left for university, he chose to retrain and follow the path he had always
been drawn to. He attended college, studying Wildlife and Conservation Management, and
subsequently transitioned into professional ecological work.
Today, Will is a senior ecologist and ornithologist with extensive field experience, strong migration
knowledge, and a warm, patient guiding style. At Eagle Eye Tours, he combines decades of global
experience with the enthusiasm that began in childhood among the windswept landscapes of
Caithness.
