Lucy is an ecologist, conservationist and lifelong birder with a particular love for the birds of Australia’s arid regions. She grew up birdwatching with her father in subtropical Brisbane, an area rich in bird diversity, where she developed an early fascination with the natural world and the remarkable variety of birds found close to home.
Her passion for birds has since taken her across Australia in search of elusive and threatened species, both through research and in her spare time chasing rarities. Lucy completed her Honours research on the Eyrean Grasswren, a little-known and elusive
species of the Australian deserts, and has contributed to published research on threatened birds.
She is currently undertaking a PhD on Letter-winged Kites, one of Australia’s most enigmatic nocturnal raptors, focusing on their ecology and conservation. When she is not guiding or in the field for research, Lucy is usually birding, planning her next trip, or photographing birds.
