Katelyn Luff - Professional Ecologist, Birder and Photographer

Katelyn is prone to wandering, and has birded from the Atlantic, to the Pacific, to Arctic coasts of Canada, and many of the places in between. She has also visited the deserts, Everglades, prairies and mountains of the United States, Costa Rica and parts of the Caribbean, all in pursuit of birds and other wildlife.

She completed her undergrad in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at the University of Guelph, and caught the birding spark when she volunteered at the McKellar Island Bird Observatory in northern Ontario a decade ago. Since then, she moved to Saskatoon to complete her masters in Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, and was fortunate to spend three summers in Nunavut studying arctic-breeding shorebirds.

Katelyn has been living in her adopted province of Saskatchewan for about a decade, and is thoroughly smitten with the birdlife this province has to offer. During that time, she has been a wildlife professional working with public, private and non-governmental organizations, all focused on studying birds. Katelyn has participated in the SK Breeding Bird Atlas and Christmas Bird Counts, and has been a trip leader for the Saskatoon Nature Society, SK Chapter of the Wildlife Society, and led a shorebird trip for the Society of Canadian Ornithologists during their most recent meeting in Saskatoon.
