Steve began his career as an ornithologist at the Long Point Bird Observatory in Ontario, close to where he grew up among the company of eastern migratory birds. He has since headed west to the Kootenay region of British Columbia but continues to exhibit an affinity for migration by traveling abroad on birding and photo assignments.
His thirst for adventure has taken him repeatedly to the neotropics, the Himalayas, and Patagonia to name a few places. During these forays he always keeps his binoculars at the ready for surprise avian encounters.
He most enjoys hearing birdsong in the tropical rainforest and learning about the simple pleasures in life with his two boys at home in Nelson, BC.
