Alexander Alvarado - Bird Guide

Alexander Alvarado's journey with birds began in the enchanting Mayan city of Copán Ruinas in western Honduras, where he was born and raised. His passion for avian life sparked while working at a local hotel, surrounded by birds within the rich natural beauty of the area. His new interest led him to Macaw Mountain, a Bird Park and Nature Reserve just outside of Copán, where he gained invaluable experience treating and caring for birds. This initial foray into avian care ignited a lifelong passion for ornithology.

In 2006, Alexander set out to explore the diverse habitats of Honduras, delving into the world of its vibrant bird species, and shortly established his own birding tour business in Copán Ruinas. His dedication to the field culminated in his election as President of the Honduran Ornithological Association in 2013, a role he continues to hold with pride.

Today, Alexander's expertise takes him across Central America and the Caribbean, where he leads birding tours in destinations such as Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. His intimate knowledge of the region, it's birds and its avifauna, ensures unforgettable experiences for all who join his tours.
