Kyle grew up on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, and has literally been birding since before he could walk! He spent his childhood sloshing through marshes, traipsing through forests, and exploring the world of birds with the help of his father. When he headed off to the University of Guelph to pursue a degree in wildlife biology, he met a crew of serious birders and a keen interest became an all-consuming lifestyle. Countless studying hours were spent running about the province, following reports and searching for rarities.
During and after university, Kyle traveled the continent as a field technician, working on boreal songbirds in Newfoundland, rattlesnakes in British Columbia and neotropical migrants in Arizona. He shortly found his true passion in environmental education, and has now developed and delivered educational programming for over a dozen organizations. Kyle is a keen traveler, having extensively explored North America, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Madagascar and South Africa.
In addition to birds, Kyle has a great interest in reptiles, amphibians and insects, and is an avid nature photographer. When he’s not in search of things that move, he can most often be found canoeing, camping, climbing, or otherwise enjoying the magic of the great outdoors.
