Booking a Land tour with Eagle-Eye Tours in 10 Steps


1.Explore our tours to find your next adventure

Explore our website to find a trip that speaks to you. You are also welcome to call us for a chat to help find the tour best suited for you. We have many clients who choose their next trip based on the birds or animals they are hoping to encounter. Many of our customers follow their favourite guide for their next tour, while others love a particular destination and book the same tour year after year (Fun fact: we have one couple who has done our Costa Rica tour 7 times so far). Don’t be shy to reach out if you need any help in finding your next adventure. 

2. Confirm availability and travel dates

You can view availability for each departure on our website. Navigate to the Departure section of any tour page, click on Departure Details and you will if spots are available.

If a departure is sold out we invite you to join the waitlist. Please don’t feel shy about joining a waitlist, even if you are not quite ready to commit. This way, we can keep you posted if spots open up or if a new departure becomes available.

3. Book Now

The earlier you can sign up for a tour the better!  Many of our tours are sold out a year in advance, so book early to avoid disappointment.

To sign up you will need to reserve your spot by paying a deposit. Deposits on most of our land tours are $300 USD/CAD per person. Deposits on most of our cruises are $2000 USD or up to 25% of your trip cost for some ship trips. You can pay your deposit online (follow ‘Book Now’ buttons in the departure sections on our tour pages).
All payments are insured by the BC Travel Assurance Fund and we are licensed by Consumer Protection British Columbia (licence #34413).

Once you have paid for your deposit you need to sign our Registration Agreement. Once we have the two pieces to the puzzle you will be introduced to your tour manager and receive a booking confirmation. Please do not book any air flights until you are instructed to do so by our office.

4. Buy travel insurance

We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance to cover your investment in case of injury, illness or some other unexpected event which forces you to cancel. In addition, we strongly recommend that you obtain emergency medical insurance that covers expenses resulting from accidental injury or illness during the tour. For some tours in the Arctic, trip interruption and medical insurance are mandatory.

We sell premium policies that also offer cancel-for-any-reason benefits. These cancel-for-any-reason policies must be purchases within 5 days of paying your deposit; terms and conditions apply. If these cancel-for-any-reason policies are important to you, please reach out to us for a quote right when you book your tour.

5. Receive the Tour confirmation between 120 and 90 days prior to your Departure

We will make sure all important pieces are in place before we confirm a tour. This includes having logistics in place, guides confirmed and the minimum participant requirement of 4 is met. Your tour confirmation will include important information about your tour. We will send you a participant information package with information about your destination, and includes a packing list for your trip. If you would like, we can book additional hotel nights at our tour hotel prior and post the tour dates. At this time, we will ask you to pay the balance of your trip cost. 

6. Book your flights

Once the tour has been confirmed, you can book your flights to/from the destination. Our clients generally book their own flights to and from their home to the tour start/end points. Some prefer to arrive a day early to acclimatize and recover from potential jet lag. Others stay a few days longer to extend their trip to visit other local attractions. If you need help booking your flights, we are happy to assist you in that process. 

7. Final Meeting Instruction & time to pack

About a week prior to your trip we will send you the final meeting instructions. On most trips that includes how to get from the airport to our tour hotel and where to meet your tour guide for the welcome dinner. 

At this time we will also provide you with an accommodation list that you can share with friends and family so that they know where you are staying. 

Now it is time for you to pack your bags!

8. Enjoy the Tour

Your tour manager has prepared all the logistics so that you don’t have to worry about how to get around and where to enjoy the next meal. You get to focus on enjoying the birds, wildlife and culture of your destination. Our guides are true experts in their fields and we are confident that you will find it incredibly insightful to travel along their side. 

9. Share your feedback and write a Review

After your trip, you will have the opportunity to fill out a tour evaluation form. We aim to improve our tours and your feedback is essential. It will help our tour managers adjust accommodation and gain assurance in our suppliers. 

We will also invite you to share a review. Your experience is insightful for potential future travellers and will aid them in determining if a tour could be a good fit for them.

Additional Information About our Tours


What is included in the tour price

The tour price includes all lodging, ground transportation, in-country air transportation on most tours, guide services, park and special entrance fees, ferry costs, boat charter fees and baggage handling for those requiring assistance. Outside Canada and the USA, the tour price includes all meals. Tours in Canada and the USA include breakfasts and lunches, but do not usually include the cost of evening meals. This allows participants maximum flexibility to choose the foods and portion size from familiar menus. Tour fees do not include any alcoholic beverages, transportation to or from the tour departure or conclusion points, passport and visa fees, airport taxes, phone calls, laundry, or other items of a personal nature.

Group discounts

Group discounts are available for groups of 4 or more booking together on most of our land tours. The group size and applicable discount are: 4 or 5 people, 5% discount; 6 or 7 people, 7% discount; 8 or 9 people, 9% discount; and 10 or more people, 10% discount. These group discounts apply to the double occupancy price only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other Eagle-Eye Tours promotion.


We require a deposit and Registration Agreement to secure your booking. Typically, we will confirm your tour approximately 120 days prior to departure and payment is due 90 days prior to departure. Deposits and payments are insured by the BC Travel Assurance Fund.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Land Tours: Notification of cancellation must be received in writing.
Unless otherwise noted, all deposits received are fully refundable for 5 days up to 60 days prior.
If you cancel 120 days or more prior to tour departure, a $100 (USD or CAD) cancellation penalty will be deducted from your deposit refund.
If you cancel 119 to 90 days prior to tour departure, your deposit is non-refundable.
If you cancel 89 to 60 days prior to tour departure, 50% of the tour fee is non-refundable.
If you cancel 59 or less days prior to tour departure, 100% of the tour fee is non-refundable.
Refunds cannot be made to participants who do not complete the tour for any reason.
If we are not able to confirm your tour due to insufficient registrations, your deposit is fully refundable. If we are forced to cancel a confirmed tour for reasons beyond our control, we cannot guarantee a full refund, but will make every effort to recover any payments made to suppliers on your behalf.

Expedition Cruises and Voyages:
Notification of cancellation must be received in writing. The penalty for cancelling more than 120 days prior is $500 per person, and between 91 and 120 days the penalty is 65% of the cruise fare/sailing package. Cancellations 90 days or less prior to embarkation are non-refundable.

Passengers are strongly advised to obtain trip cancellation insurance at time of deposit.
