Dave Browne

Over the last 20 years of my life there have been many changes, but there has always been one constant- birds. I have spent a significant amount of time doing bird research as a consultant as well as guiding. Lately, I have decide to devote all of my time to both guiding and educating on topics of both bird identification and conservation.

Within birding my primary areas of interest are Gull identification and studying the relation of weather and other variables on patterns of vagrancy in birds in Newfoundland and elsewhere in North America.

I have travelled extensively within Newfoundland and North America in search of birds. In 2011, I embarked on a Newfoundland big year and managed to record a record  total of 273 species of birds on the island of Newfoundland. The previous high total was 246. While I was am quite proud of that accomplishment, what I am most proud of is my contribution to the growth and education of the Newfoundland birding community through my various workshops and lectures. Helping people move beyond their backyards and their feeders and discover the diverse and unique avifauna of Newfoundland and Labrador.
