Ernesto
Carman
Ernesto was born
and raised in Costa Rica on his family’s organic
coffee farm where respect for nature was not secondary to their own
needs. His surroundings triggered an interest in ornithology at an
early age. Ernesto has studied birds and guided in all areas of the
country, from the Caribbean lowlands to the Paramo above treeline.
He has written various scientific publications, helping to shed light
on the poorly known tropical avifauna. Currently, he is the senior
counter at Talamanca Hawkwatch Bird Conservation Program in Costa Rica
where more than two million raptors are counted during migration. He
is also involved in other research projects oriented towards bird conservation.
