Dave
Beadle
Dave grew up in Kent, UK and started birding from the age of 14. It
became an all-consuming passion that would go on to change his life
forever - a good thing it should be said! Countless hours were spent
scouring the coastal scrub and marshes near his home for migrant
birds, thus sparking a keen interest in the mysteries of bird
migration. After school this led to extended periods of time working
at bird observatories both in UK and in North America. After meeting
his wife Katie at Long Point Birds Observatory, Ontario it was
decided to move to Toronto, where they still live with their son James.
Dave has always been a keen traveller. He'll go anywhere but has a
passion for the neotropical region and visited South America on more
than 20 occasions, often for two months at a time. He has also
travelled extensively in North and Central America and SE Asia. Over
the past few years Dave has combined his birding skills with his
artistic side and has contributed illustrations to over 30 books and
countless journals and brochures. At the moment he is working on many
plates for forthcoming field guides to the birds of Brazil and
Bolivia - two much-needed works.
When not birding Dave is fanatical about moths! In fact he is working
on a photographic field guide to the common moths of northeastern
North America in the hope of creating more awareness of these
fascinating creatures. He also likes music and plays guitar, though
strictly for his own amusement!
