Bald Eagle art

Bruce Mactavish

Bruce Mactavish has been an avid birder for 35 years. Since the late 1970s Newfoundland has been his home. His interest in birds has brought him to every nook and cranny in Newfoundland and most of Labrador. He has a deep interest in all birds but in the winter gulls become his focus. He has become internationally recognized as an expert on gull identification. He has co-authored leading edge articles on gull identification published European and North American birding journals. He is the Atlantic Canada Region editor for North American Birds. His photographs have been published in several field guides and numerous birding magazines. His love of birding keeps him active every weekend, holiday and stolen moment throughout the year regardless of the weather and location. He works as wildlife biologist for an environmental consulting company in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

“Sensitive, knowledgeable, willing to spend time. Easy to work with. Excellent personal touches.” - Newfoundland in winter, 2006
